Every painting starts with a shadow, a color and a shape. Every where I go, I see potential paintings. Nature is a challenge for any artist, the atmosphere and colors are always changing. As I look at the way the shadows dance across the road or the way a group of trees form a shape, in my mind I begin planning my next painting. Georgia O’Keeffe said” I found I could say things with color and shapes that I couldn’t say any other way.. things I had no words for.” When I am painting I get lost in colors and shapes. Sometimes I feel as if I have to step back from my easel and come up for a breath. I want to be able to share with others the beauty I see in the simple things. I am especially drawn to the landscapes of the southwest. I love the vivid colors of the desert and the subtle shapes of the brush in the hill country.

I have always pursued the study and creation of art even at a very young age. I received my Bachelor of Arts degree from University of North Texas in Denton, Texas and Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. I also taught high school art for four years . Over the years there may have been long lapses from oil painting, but I always knew in my heart and mind I would eventually come back to painting. In 2006, I began painting full time. Please enjoy! I can only hope viewing my paintings can bring you as much pleasure as it does me painting them
